Crain's 40 under 40

Mark Stott, 36

Managing director

Select Property Group Ltd.

Greatest professional achievement: Since 2004, Select Property has grown from around 10 people to nearly 100 and has sold more than £300m worth of properties in Dubai, Spain, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Current goal: To create selective and profitable businesses that provide the best value for customers and stakeholders and to grow into an international conglomerate with diversified business interests.

Before starting Select Property, Stott was a bar owner, a florist and a car dealer. Stott first entered the property market in early 2003 with Dubai Select, acting as a sales agent under an exclusive commercial agreement for UK sales. Select has just launched the Pacific development on Al Marjan Island in the emerging Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Pacific is Select’s first luxury property development and is due for completion in 2011.

The two companies have previously sold four off-plan developments for Select Group, including Dubai Marina’s Bay Central; The Torch; The Point; and Botanica, the only residential development with a sky garden. Stott was also approached by Spanish property development group Finca Parcs in 2005, offering exclusive worldwide rights to promote its £1bn portfolio of golf resort projects, leading to a commercial sales agreement being signed in 2006.
